HUMBERTO LEON

Appointed Creative Director

With Humberto Leon as Creative Director, St. John enters a new chapter — rooted in nearly 65 years of history, embracing what’s next.

Leon co-founded Opening Ceremony and spent eight years redefining KENZO as joint creative director, building a career at the intersection of fashion, culture, art, and community. His work spans collaborations with Chloë Sevigny, Adidas, Disney, and Fossil; costume design for New York City Ballet; and the interiors of his own LA restaurants, Chifa, Monarch, and Arroz & Fun.

The fit is organic — a shared California sensibility, a reverence for craft, and a belief in clothing that feels as good as it looks. Drawing from the St. John archives, Humberto brings fresh expression to the house’s signatures: knitwear, sport and jewelry.

“St. John is a brand that exemplifies American luxury, and one that shaped the way I looked at fashion,” says Leon. “I’ve been thrilled to dive into the brand’s incredible history and look forward to bringing it to new and unexpected places.”

THE FIRST COLLECTION

Humberto’s debut is the Fall 2026 capsule featuring Ms. Tina Knowles — a longtime St. John admirer, in her first luxury fashion campaign.

The collection reimagines archival motifs — abstracted florals and animal prints echoing founder Marie Gray — in matte duchesse satin and brushed alpaca jacquard, with saturated color and confident tailoring. Archival jewelry from the ‘80s and ‘90s becomes hardware; select original pieces are reissued for the first time.
